I was able to flush mount a HDS 8 in the dash of my 07 Puma. Anyone with a Puma or Cougar FTD withthe original dash could do this upgrade. After doing this once Im sure it would even be easier the secound time.

Duramax, how did you do this? Did you use the screws that came with the HDS unit or did you use something different? Does it sit flush or do you have some kind of spacer in there?

I used the screws that come in the flush mount kit from lowrance.They go in from the front which makes it easy install.I used a piece of 3/8″ weather stripping around the unit tomake it water proof.

Looks good. I just put one in my 06 Puma. Have you tried the sonar at speed yet. Mine is losing bottom reading at about 50 MPH where my old 332 never lost the bottom. I have only had 1 trip with the unit so I am still working on some settings. Just curious about yours. I also used the same transducer that was running with my 332 installed by basscat. I spoke with Lowrance and they said my transducer was probably losing power. I just find the timing of that hard to believe.

The units is probably reading the air entrapped in the area between hull and water. Might be a little more sensitive than your 332 and thus reading the air as most loose depth at between 50 and 60 MPH due to the air that is compressed.
