Not in detail, but generally, hit “page”, scroll to the right to the page that has “waypoints,…”, this used to be the “Utilities” page before Lowrance updated it, it may also say “files”, go to “files”, you will get a list of files in the sonar. Move cursor to “memory card”, highlight the file you want, I believe you hit “menu” on the keyboard and it will ask if you want to load the file. “Yes”, you do. The HDS units are not nearly as user-friendly as the others, you have to look in a lot of places and try things to find the function you want. There are user groups on the net that offer tips and I have done searches and found a lot of answers. I forget stuff as quickly as I learn it. The geeks that write code for Lowrance do not use the units, obviously.
Thanks, we will try this tomorrow. Glynn
Those that have HDS. Are you having any problems? Do you like the units? Glynn
Can someone tell me the sequence in detail how to load a MMC Card with waypoints in an HDS unit? I dont have any experience with the newer Lowrance units. Lowrance does not have a HDS simulator up on their site yet. I was unable to find what I was looking for in the manual download. I can easily do this in the older units. Any help would be appreciated. Glynn
I didnt install mine. BCB installed the units at the factory. My LSS was installed later by a friend. I requested he run wire for a rocker switch that is mounted on the console under side flat part. This puts it out of sight at your finger tips. Theres no since in the module being powered until needed. If you give me a little more to go on, I might be able to help you. BBC Board will answer any question. The base unit is the way to go. You can buy the Lowrance HD chip. (cannot be used in the insight unit because of software size) It has the insight mapping with some lake improvements and improved zoom rates. You can also use navionics premium or platinum with either model. HDS with insight have limited space. You know what that means. Load it up and it gets slower. You made the right choice.Did you buy an Eight? Glynn
All Lowrance installs we have seen require a software update to activate the LSS1 units also. That software is a download on line from Lowrance.
got the 7 i wanted 8 but the cheese $$$$ i will have 2 check out the chip . i got the internal ant. didnt want 2 mess with any more pucks latest update 3.033.84?
I have looked at both the base and insight mapping and dont think either are adequate. The insight is not much of an upgrade at all. Save your money and buy a lowrance or navico chip.Bob
When I bought my HDS 7 Lowrance told me to buy base unit and Navionics chip. Works great!!

No need to go on line and download anything. Your unit will acknowledge your LSS once you program it to. MENU>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>ADVANCED>FEATURES check the top circleThe internal antenna is okay(updates once per second) Later when you get more cheese, buy the 4000 (updates five times per second)You will be very happy with your purchase once you get over the learning curve. Im still asking questions and learning.Glynn
nelacat what chip r u recommending? and the chip has the insight? yea the learning curve starts over almost thats what has been holding me back until now. i dont eknow what the rant about coustmer support with lowrance is they have always helped me ,yes you might be on hold but its the same with humminbird i kept calling and holding until i got through even then they were not in a position 2 help other than send unit back $100 just for a check. keep the advice comming. todd
Navionics premium……… Theres not a decent map chip for my area. They all suck!!!!!!!! This is a thread from the BBC about the platinum.http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=562315Glynn
The 2010 Navionics platinum is 3D. You will need two chips for your area lakes. This is the new Lowrance HD chip. http://www.lowrance.us/Products/Mapping … nsight-HD/HD is more detail. contour lines etc……………………………….. If its not HD, its probably just an outline of a lake I dont think any of the mapping is going to satisfy us.Glynn
