Heading to Kentucky Lake next weekend to fish for the first time. Any body fish there and have any tips??Water Levels are near normal finally and the temp is about 10 degrees cooler, according to Kentucky Lake online…
They are on the ledges and crank baits pretty well now. They will be catching them well there and to have a limit from 12 to 15 is pretty simple we understand. Though the bigger stringers are harder. The lake is back at Summer pool now after the rise. BCB Admin.
You can catch about any way you want, but if they ahve the current on I would finds some drop that are around 10-12 feet that the current is hitting the end of it and crank it. I fished the BFL a couple of weeks ago and its was on pretty good I was catching 40-60 keepers a day, I was fishing a 6XD in sexy chatreuse, the best (5) 26.5lbs 1st day with big fish 8.1 lbs 23.7lbs 2nd day and 23.4 the 3rd day. Then they turned off the current and put them in the flooded bushes. Good luck hope you catch them.
And if you are not fishing for Bass the Red Ear are getting stupid, nothing like catching 1.5 lb bluegill.
Just got back from fishing Lake Barkley last week. The bass were stacked up on the humps and drops at the mouth in Dryden Bay. We had two fish over 7lbs. and several over 5lbs. These fish were caught on KVD 1.5 AND 2.5 crankbaits and jigs. When they hit they ahout pulled the rod out your hands. The mouth of McNabb produced good fish also. Use your electronics and you will see plenty of structure to find these fish.
Jig Man – You had to be throwing those SKs on 6-8 lb line because those humps are 6-9ft on top during summer pool in the mouth of Dryden and sitting on the inside of the 2nd bouy throwing towards the mouth . Barkley was still up some last week above summer pool and inside that 2nd bouy are where the tightest lines would be . As far as Mc Nabb you were fishing the two on the left that is attached to the bank with 19-22 ft of water around it sitting on the break . The one on the right when you come in is where you probably caught some on the jig cause it is not attached to the bank at all and you could sit out alittle deeper and fish that football head down from that 9-11 ft to 19-22ft. Your jig fish came deeper off the drop and your active fish were up schooling and chasing is what im guessing. Electronics is the key because they are not everywhere youd think they would be rt now . Some are out and some are on the way out and a few still hanging around on the flats in the back for some topwater action in the morning. Jig Man you sure you werent catching them off the rip-rap back in EDDY CREEK or the small hump rt up from the marina on the left close to the bank………
I see you know those areas pretty good, also. The bass were blowing up on the baitfish and we were within casting distance. I was using 12 lb line on these lures. I live in southern Ohio and have a summer home on Little River. Been fishing on Barkley for 21 years. You are right on electronics, cant do without them. Just got HDS 8 & 7 with structure scan-great tools to find fish. I fish out of a BassCat PIV with a 200 Evinrude. Another a great palce to fish is in Little River. Hope to see you sometime.
You say something about a pink house across from the ramp or island mud bar point that runs out just to name a few and i know about the deepest bushes when at summer pool also(wich is south of little river) . Ive even spent the night at Ferells burger joint parking lot in town , so yes i know where Little River is …..lolLast edited by Deep Structure on May 27th, 2011, 2:37 am, edited 2 times in total.
