Question for basscat, I am now going to upgrade both the graphs on the boat with the new helix 9s, right now I have a 788 in the console, will the new helix 9 fit flush mounted in the console of a 13 margay or will I need a mount like sherms? Also I will be getting the SI version so will I need two transducers one for SI and DI and one for on plane readings as the SI ducer I assume will be on the jackplate?Just wanted to prepare myself this offseason for this change.

If your transducer for your 788 is already glassed in, you should be able to use that for high speed 2d for your helix. You will need a “Y” cable to connect the SI/DI transducer and is commonly mounted to the jackplate.

The Helix units from 9 through 12 are all the same exact case, which will give HumminBird challenges when it comes to in dash mounting. It will not go flush in the Pantera II and Sabre FTD, though we think its a long shot on the Margay.

Ok so this is all new to me. So how do I know if my 788 has a glassed in transducer? The only thing on the back of the boat is a black wire with a little nub on it in the middle of the jackplate. I dont think that is a transducer. So If I want the helix 9 the only option is a sherms mount unless anyone has any other ideas. There really is no area for a ram mount nor would I want one.

This diagram explains how your set up will work, of course assuming you already have that glassed in ducer. The install involves some work (fishing wires, installing the SI transducer on the jackplate, etc). It is not difficult, but, if this is new to you, perhaps you have a buddy who is good with this kind of work and can help you. There will be lots of help here as well if you want to do it on your own.
