We dont recall the Merc color code, though the BCB is yellow on fuel gauges. Some are striped and one is yellow.

The Optimax manuel (should be the same for Verado for the SmartCraft system), the fuel sender is connected to an orange/black and a black/orange wire. These wires connect to a 6 pin connector which also has the water wheel connections and ends up in the engine cowling. Check to make sure the connector is properly mated and that the wires are pushed in their proper locations. Looking at the connector from the back, the orange/black wire should be in the bottom-right position, the black/orange in the bottom-left. Above the orange/black there should be tan/orange then gray/black. Above the black/orange should be brown/yellow then blue/black. good luck jwt

after installing new lcx27 my fuel on my smart craft gauge stopped working,the pink wire on the back of the push pad is unplugged, I think that is the trouble.Can someone please tell me where it plugs into,i have two wires from the back pink w/black tracer and black w/orange are these the wires i am looking for ? I plugged in the pink w/black tracer and still nothing ,it looked like it ran all the way back into the cowling . i am running an 05 puma w/merc verado smart craft gauges..any help would be much appreciated

If at all possible try not to remove shift handle, can be pain in the butt. I have a fishing buddy 57″ about 125lb, and he can get his body and arms in all sorts of places I cant. Just a thought.

There is online help on how to get your shifter/control box off by model number. Bless the internet for making this sort of stuff relatively easy to come by. It is really not a fun job.If you can get a miners type head lamp and position your body just right, you are likely going to be able to find the plug w/o the removal of the of the control box that you are considering…probably an easier route but still a PITA.

Dont remove the control box. You will need to remove the seats and the seat pan and this should give you room. This is what I had to do to run transducer cables on my 2006 Puma. Also use a snake it makes it easier to pull back an forth if the cable gets stuck. Good luck

Got it pulled through with just a lot of going back and forth. Patience and a good friend to help we got it. Thank you everyone for the help. Did not want to remove the throttle arm, but things were looking pretty bad. Anyways we got it and now just need to tuck up wires and go out and try all the new electronics.
