Help-Livewell Pump In

My livewell pump for “Pump In” is not coming on. The light comes on at the touch pad, but nothing is coming on in the bilge. The pump out works fine. Which pump is for the incoming water and how do I check it? The boat is a 2 year old Cougar Advantage. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Swap those pumps and see if the problem follows the pump. If so bad pump.GeorgeGeorge

To check which pump is which, turn them on one at a time and determine which does not come on. (I am unfamiliar with the layout and cannot tell you specifically which it is.)The cartridges are interchangeable and have bullet connectors so there are no wires to cut. If you have a bad cartridge, BCB parts has them.

Check the ground on the terminal block at the transom also.

My advice is take some duct tape and label top of each cartridge as to what it is. Wont be last time you change oneC.O.D. Jr. III

There is 3 cartridge pumps. I traced each one to the aerator, recirculation, and pump out. Is there another for pump in? I also checked the connections at the terminal block and did not find anything loose.

The pump in pump is usually mounted in the lowest area at the rear of the bilge area and is mounted horizontally though the hull and is sometimes hard to see if you do not know it.

Ive been “bit” before by this terminal block and you cant always see the corrosion or dirty connection. Ill try disconnecting and cleaning the terminals. It sounds like the pump Im looking for is under the oil tank. Ill pull it and the mounted shelf it sets on to check it out. Thanks.

I have the same boat. 2013 Cougar AE. Every winter before I put it away, I circulate some anti freeze into some of the pumps, including the “pump in”. Underneath the boat, there is a through hull fitting, actually facing downward (not the two facing sternward, but down), right behind the pad, and only one with that orientation. If you find that fitting and follow the hose into it, it should take you to the “pump in” pump itself. My boat is in storage, otherwise I would post a pic.I always clean my connections at the terminal block and coat them with dielectric compound at the beginning of the season.
