Topic: HELP motor issue tonight

Hoping someone might be able to help me narrow down what the problem could be. I have a 2009 Puma with 09 250 Pro XS and tonight I left the ramp with no issues and hit a couple spots. Then when I go to leave the boat would not come out of the hole and RPMs wouldnt jump above 2100. If I kept it floored for probably 30seconds it would finally limp its way on plane but still had no throttle response what could it be? No alarms went off and I have had no prior issues. Turkey season opens this weekend and I planned to hunt around the lake and fish so hoping its a quick fix and nothing serious. Also any suggestions from the northern arkansas guys if you take your boat to Bull Shoals or is Performance Marine a good choice for work?

maybe a coil but could be a fuel issue (water) too.

Take it to Steve at Bull Shoals. Chris is a great Merc Mechanic and will have you up and running in no time. They are also a bass cat dealer FYI. His number is 870-445-4424… ask for Steve or “The Shop”.

That is during some of those last coil issues, though they can tell pretty quick.

just picked mine up from gettin lower unit lube changed over there this afternoon. They are pretty backed up but might be able to work it in. Good luck.

Travis, Im five hours from Steve but he would MOST DEFINATELY be the guy I would take my boat to. Several guys from my hometown have bought cats from him and he did some installation work for me this year and it was off the chart. Top notch dealer and highly recommended. BTW it sounds like you lost a coil with the power loss and no alarm.

Most likely a bad coil.

That exact same thing has happened to me and it was a bad spark plug. The plugs were only about 4 months old when mine went bad. Change out your plugs first.
