No, the rivets are more to hold that rub rail on. The hull and cap are basically one big piece when everything is done. I wont get into the assembly of the boat if BCB wants to they can but they are resined together. I would definitely not use expoxy on the rubrail, getting it off for a replacement (if needed) down the road would be a major job with a good possibility of messing up the gel in the process. Sometimes, especially rough water, those rivets loosen and you can reinstall them and it will be fine. Sounds like you have a good handle and know how to fix it.
