I am going to try to switch from a 24 Tempest to a 24 Trophy. I already had tried to do the switch but had major blow out when I did. It looks like the vent plugs are possibly different. On the Tempest they look like mediums on the Trophy they look like smalls.People have said that I might need a blow out ring or a weed ring (depending on terminology). Any thoughts?Do I try using different vent plugs?I am running a 2008 Sabre FTD and 2008 150 Etec HO.
Ron, I remember putting a small plastic “cone” looking thing on mine when I switched from a 3 blade to the trophy. Did you put one of those on when you switched. That blow out was pretty ridiculous wasnt it??? Hahaahahaha.Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
Not sure if you have a jack plate or not but 4 bladed props like to run a little lower than a 3 bladed prop. Will have to play with everything you mentioned to achieve the best hole shot.
I will have to try to swap it out at the OI.Dan, you aint kidding that it was rediculous.My boat is being looked at by the factory on Tuesday for another issue.That issue might have been why the boat didnt go on plane.Thanks for all inputs.DP
Ron, You need the blowout ring because the trophy is a smaller diameter. I have one on mine, and I have a great hole shot and low 60s on the top end. See you Monday at Sabre Central aka Teal Point.Wayne.

Ill bet your dealer has one layin around they would give you. could not imagine it being over $10, as it is a thin plastic ring that snaps in your lower unit.keeps the exhaust going thru the prop instead of around it.
