Topic: Help! Trailer bunk tried to swim off.

My area lake & town had a good down pour and made ruts in the dirt along the ramp where we park. My buddy is parking the truck and i see one of the outside bunks fly up. I go over and the lag bolts have rusted and/or fell out of the tail end of the bunk. After fishing till 2pm we go back and i take out one of the bolts from the other bunk and get it back on tight enough so it does not move. What size is the lag screw and can i put in A larger scew but with the same length. Seems that a few were loose. Is the bunk all wood . Do the teflon glide strips at bass pro work so i can put a bolt through and still not mark the hull. Thanks, Brian Chance – 99 P – 3

The lag bolts are 3/8″x 1.5″, and be sure to go back with stainless steel. Hardware store should have them. Yes the bunks are all wood and BassCat uses a wood sealer on them. If you put a small amount of all purpose adhesive on the threads of the lag bolts, they wont vibrate out again.Last edited by Jewalston on November 22nd, 2007, 1:34 am, edited 1 time in total.James

I do not recamend installing anything on topof the bunks to help launch or load. I have seen multiple boat hulls where the gel was wore thin from continous rubbing( including my p2 ). Just stick with pressure treated wood leave the bottom exposed for draining and cover the tops,sides. If you need to use liquid roller spray on the carpet,just be extra carefull on the ramps and keep the strap hooked ontill in the water. Scott
