“Help”Has anyone every cut a windshield on a BassCat?

I have a new to me 2011 Eyra and when I’m setting in the driver seat the windshield is about 1-2 inches too tall for my short self. I’m thinking of trimming about 1 ince off to see how that works. I’ve watched UTube video’s on how to cut Lexan and Polycarbonate windshields and it looks pretty strait forward. Not sure what BassCat windshields are made from? If anyone has attempted this are has information, I’m all ears.

Ive never done it on a BassCat windshield but we used to trim Harley windshields from the bottom! Keeps the top looking good!

I have cut Bass Cat windshields to allow access to the left side knobs on mounts for electronics. A slow speed sabre/jig saw with a fine blade does the trick with filing and sanding to finish the job. If you are really anal about the edge, you can finish with wet sanding. Use a block of wood as a sanding block to keep a (nearly) square edge. I do not think that you can cut from the bottom on the older windshields because they would no longer wrap around the console to the same holes for mounting. I do not know about the newer ones.I believe that they are Plexiglas which can be bent if warmed in an oven. If you make a wooden form to rebend the curl and place the form and the windshield in a warm oven (not quite sure of the temperature required) it will sag onto the mold and then you can turn off the heat and open the door. Let it cool fully before handling to avoid finger marks in the softened plastic.

You are correct, it will have to be cut from the top. And yes I will be concerned with the edge so thanks for the idea of the sanding block. I will attempt it this week and hopefully I wont jack it up. I priced a new one for around 75 dollars so if I screw it up to bad Ill order a new one. Thanks guys.

Dionne – I just sat on my red throw cushion when I needed to see over it. If you put a saw anywhere on anything in that boat Im gonna repossess it

Lol. My short sister used to have to use a throw pillow to see over the steering wheel of her pinto. Just get a couple throw floatation squares and sit on them. Then you can say that you are making sure that your throw flotation is easily accessible. ….lol

Here is the finish product. Cut two inches off the Eyra windshields and installed a Infinity sound system. The windshield cut was fairly easy.
