I have a 2014 Eyra powered by a 2014 Mercury 250 ProXS with Torquemaster gearcase. I am currently running a 25P Fury with (3) extra PVS holes drilled by Mark Croxton. The boat currently has about thirty gallon of gas aboard along with very minimal tackle and two adults with an approximate combined weight of 400lbs. The boat is also equipped with (2) 10’ Power Pole Blades.

I started out with (1) PVS plug in the prop, and it took about 40 seconds to get the boat on plane. I removed the remaining PVS plug and it wasn’t really any better. The only difference was with all the PVS plugs removed, the prop blew out.

What advice can the Bass Cat family shed on this scenario? I experimented with the Atlas Hydraulic Jack Plate at settings ranging from 0-4 with no change. What prop are you guys running with a similar set up 2-stroke Merc)?

The ten foot poles definitely challenge the hole shot more. The PVS Plugs should be close With none and depending on the holes Croxton put in on the venting needed. On size most run the 25 on this application and we wonder what your top end is.

Go join the Facebook group called Basscat Boat Owners group if you can. I just posted the same question there about a 2016 eyra I’m buying. Many more members there and they always give great advice!! You can look for my post there to see how they answered me. Lot of them told me to raise my backplate up when taking off and then lower it once on plane. Some said they went to a 4 blade 25 fury instead of three blade. I dont care about going 75mph so I will go to a 4 blade because hole shot is more important to me. Everyone is different

I have a 2017 Cougar FTD with Ultrex, 10 ft poles, 4 graphs, 250 PRO XS 2 stroke and tournament loaded, Atlas hydraulic plate and 25P Fury 4 prop with all eight holes open, half tanks of fuel, 4 Group 31 AGM batteries, full oil tank, empty livewells and me and my holeshot is about 3.5 seconds. With all the holeshot problems I see on here it makes me wonder how many boats are not getting full throttle? I launch with my plate at 8 and lower it as I go.

Raise your plate to 8/9, Also raise rpms in forward gear before you just tromp it, and lower the plate as you get up on top, then trim out.

I run a 18 EYRA with 8′ polls, Atlas HYD plate, and turn a fury 3 blade 25

I agree with fc1…raise the plate (I go to 10). As soon as you dump the throttle, drop plate to about 5 for most applications for me. This is on my 2018 Eyra 2 stroke.
