The above info is correct. You will see no gain from hole shot plate. The only gain is you will eliminate water from splashing up in front of the engine as you come off pad. I did alot of testing for detwiler 10 years ago or more with a splash/hole shot plate that actually could be adjusted on the fly. Almost zero gain on hole even at the greatest off set. As said above your greatest gain on hole shot is through the propping.
