Horn Not Working

I had a Omega controller in my boat that recently shorted out. After replacing it with the updated dash, my horn will not work. When I shorted out the Omega, the horn stayed on constanlty. I dont know what the deal is because I know it is getting power. Can you burn up the horn in a boat? Yes, you can burn up a horn and the first thing I would do would be to pull the horn out and test the voltage to the horn when the button is pushed. If you are showing voltage then check the horn directly from a 12 volt source using two leads. If the horn does work then check your ground to the horn, it may be faulty.Last edited by Olddawg on August 31st, 2009, 5:07 am, edited 1 time in total.

I had to replace the horn on my 96 P-II, not sure why, but it was toast.

Tested the horn and it seems to be getting power and it is grounded. Must be the horn, do you just order a new one from basscat, or is this something I can pick up from a dealer.

Check with the parts dept. Dont know if we still stock that horn but they might have one that can replace it. BCB
