So I finally got to take a closer look at my wheel that was heating up excessively. I jacked it up, and I could barely turn it with my hands. I took the wheel off and found the caliper to be for a lack of better explanation “seized”. I tried to release the pressure by pressing the tab under the tongue with no luck. I checked the level of brake fluid, and it appeared to be good. Its as if the piston in the caliper is frozen in place and will not respond to hydraulic fluid flow. Remember, about 6 weeks ago the opposite side hub blew out and tore up everything on that side so bad I had to replace the axle and get a new brake assembly. It towed fine for approx. 500 miles before becoming a noticeable problem. The side that is currently problematic is the original rotter/caliper added to the new axle. They repacked all bearings and replaced the pads on both sides. Questions: What most likely led to the current situation considering the history? How can I avoid brake issues in the future? Finally, if you turn your dual trailer too sharply, can it damage the bearings brakes or anything else as the wheels flex? Thanks!
