How big off a job

After looking at some of the screen shots and mulling over the advantages of the structure map ive about talked myself into going lowrance. I have a 2011 puma ftd with and 1197 in dash and a 958 at the bow. I also have seperate pucks for the unit and they are interlinked. How big of a pain is it to swap out the units and is the cutout for the 1197 close enough to the hds 10 that i can keep my console or would i need a new dash? Also would i only need one of the lss1 for the side imaging for both units or does each unit require one?

Hmm? Were gonna see about this one, we never have really crossed over between the two, though did fit the dash for both units. From memory, the 1197 is not too long, and you may have to trim vertical glass on the dash to fit and HDS 10 where an 1197 is presently.

I have a 2011 puma ftd and was going with a HDS 10 in the dash. I was told the 10 would not fit in that dash.

You may be right as the 12 models fit and the 11 model year may not have accepted the HDS 10.

OK, I have removed an older Lowrance and installe the 1197 in my 05 Puma. I used the bracket that came with the unit and shortened it (cut and rewelded) and bolted the bracket to the dash. The hole where the Lowrance was I jut put a stainless plate over that. It also had a Lowrance on teh front.Here is the big deal, I absolutely could not get the NEMA Lowrance size plugs pulled out. I do not know if BC lays the wires in before the cap goes on or what but I ended up having to cut teh connectors off and pull the wires. Not a big loss, sold the old stuff and teh new owner ordered new wires. Better make sure you can pull the connectors before you buy. It was no problem pulling the HB harness as their connectors are smaller and round. I have a 1197 at the console, a 987 at the nose with a separate 7XX connected to a wide side transducer (works best in lLouisiana as most times I am in 1-3 feet of water and I can get a shot of whats at water level from 15 feet away) the SI unites are interlinked adn I have a weather sense. If I was to order a new boat today, I would probably go lowarnce, but the HB stuff is plenty good.Milton

The NMEA wires and transducers are all tied in together and are not independently able to be removed. This is like your car harness and they are all tied together. You can not remove the rear tail light wire or fuel tank driver sensor from a vehicle loom.
