How fast should my boat run?

Too many factors on a boat that old to give a fair speed.

Like Phil said, lotsa variables. I see one thing you are not running at peak performance. You should be getting at least 5600 rpm maybe more! What pitch and type prop are you running? Jack plate height ?

Closer to 1000rpms low, but unknown engine height, prop pitch,load, elevation, compression as mentioned, etc,,,, Those engines were great, but a bit shy on torque. A 25p Tempest was probably the most commonly preferred prop of that time, but some ran Trophy props with good results. As boats aged they got heavier, with some water intrusion, etc,,,, if the boat is that fresh I doubt you would have that issue,nor transom flex. Set up and driving is a bit more critical on those hulls, and can greatly effect performance. Get someone with BCB experience to help with those.

I would get your prop and jack plate height dialed in to where you are getting the rpms you are supposed to and then see where you are. Generally a three blade will be a little faster than a four blade but every boat is different. Once you get your setup tweaked a bit let us know where you are at.
