I agree and feel for you Dr Jag. kking, I know what you mean as I have to deal with them and other insurances every day for our oncology patients. So many times I just want to tell the person on the other end “I hope you never get cancer and have to fight with insurance to do the right thing”. Today I had to do a prior authorization for a patients medicine that they have been on for 5 years. The problem? They signed on with Humana Gold this year, and the medicine is not on formulary. No exceptions. I was switched back and forth and spent 45 minutes on the phone arguing/pleading a case for an override. In the end they allowed a letter of appeal to be written and I could mail it to them. I argued that it needed to be faxed as the appeal process should not be delayed on a med for a cancer patient due to the postal system. I did convince them to let me fax it…now the insurance gets up to 72 hrs to render a decision.
