I downloaded updates. Now the graph has a solid line running horizontal at 2.5 feet. In shallow water the digital printout of depth reads at 2.5 depth or less and will not read deeper until in 10 feet or deeper. Then the line stays there but the digital starts reading. The graph shows the bottom contour and reads correctly. Any ideas on how to get rid of this line? Also, I think the graph colors are now different. There is no amber or brown. There is green, blue, gray, inverse, original palette, Palette 1, 2 and 3. Is this normal?Lastly, what transducer settings (83,200,800) do you use in normal bass fishing 30 feet or less.
Try changing setting for water type from freshwater to saltwater. Also set surface clutter to medium or high.Last edited by mojorig on August 26th, 2012, 6:51 pm, edited 1 time in total.
first restore defaults. that should be done before update & then again after. next go to sonar tab and make sure the right transducer is selected in the menue which is the HDSI. and Jeremy said above check the water setting to fresh water. another thing that many overlook for best performance is set the max depth and dont leave it on auto. for example if you are fishing in a lake thats max depth is 70 ft. then set it to that. for shallow water try setting the max depth to say 10 ft. it will work better this way. i use a different sonar when running so im not using that unit . remember max depth of say 10 ft will make digital depth reading flash a wrong # when in water deeper than 10 ft. i could go on.another thing is check transducer cable plug in connection. are you using the AS SI DB Y splitter cable? thats for using 2 TDs. 1 for SI and the other for in hull 2D on plane readings.i would bet you max depth setting has been misadjusted. auto works fine for all depth but slower to update in shallow water what update version did you install ? and do you have the previous software version saved ? always save a copy of the old software for a debug testing.
as far as general setting while fishing on 2D in shallow water i use 200kh only say 20-30 ft i will use 200/83.for general SI & DI use 455kh and then for a closer look another pass on 800kh. you get better coverage on 455 especially in shallow water
I will try all of this. So do I want saltwater and not freshwater mojo? I did have on auto so will try setting next time. Tried surface clutter but then had to add sensitivity and line came back. Would be nice to have an old flasher for running shallow water.
Friends, Now what H/B told me was to,1. Set surface clutter to #92. Use the saltwater deep setting even if in freshwater lakes?? Why, I dunno?!?!?3. Well, ?!?! It works. What I do know is that why too many folks having this same trouble for way too long. Its not BCBs fault, they sell and install them, and to their credit do a helluv good job. But H/B needs to step up and get this problem fixed!! We went round and round with this last “May”. Thats All!!Last edited by Cbumpilori on August 27th, 2012, 12:25 am, edited 1 time in total.
The saltwater setting seems to hold the bottom better. Make sure you have temperature graph turned off to. That makes a solid black line.
a good reference site for humminbird is the unoffical humminbird site” . You can look up your model on the forum and see if others have had the same problem and what fix.if any they used to resolve issuehttp://www.xumba.scholleco.com/Bob
