Just go my p2 last saturday from private owner. I have to say that i go a steal of a deal. what I am wanting to do is upgrade the humminbird electronics. I have 777 up front and 787 at the console. What do you guys think how I should upgrade? I am wanting to put a 1198 at the console and 998 at the bow. Any suggestion????????????

Ive never heard anyone regret getting the large units, I run an HDS 10 on mine and like the large screen. Do yourself a favor and talk to Scap and Shirley at Transducer Shield and Saver for the transducer mounts. The big units are great for fishing 10 foot+, if you beat the bank you might not see a benefit. Mike

Hey Mike thanks for the response. You highlighted a good point that I need to pay attention to. Yes, I am from southern louisiana but i dont beat the banks. LOL! Must say it was tough, but I compete an I had learned the hard way that fish do do relate to other stuff. our waters are shallow but with the norm we fish in anything from 3 to 10 foot range. but i do fish tournments an also i fish some big lakes. more than likely will will be opting to upgrade to the big humminbird units.

On my PIV I was running Lowrance x27 & x28 units, and then I had a HB 797 also mounted on the console. I used the HB only for SI, and I had to manually swap waypoints over to my Lowrance units when Id mark something on the SI. It worked ok, and I got pretty quick at swapping over waypoints. I never had to switch screens.When I got my Eyra, I decided to go with HB units, mainly for service reasons, which has already paid off. As I primarily fish deep, I went with bigger units… a 1197 at the console and a 958 up front. I am EXTREMELY happy with this set up. If you fish off the bank, I think youll be very happy with investments in larger electronics. I use them a LOT and I believe the ability to see extra detail it a big plus.
