Hey Guys, what are the advantages of an external GPS vs. an internal. Trying to decide how I want to go on a couple of units for my boat.Neil.Last edited by neilb on February 27th, 2011, 3:17 pm, edited 3 times in total.
I am sure someone will be along to say that they have had no issues with an internal antenna but the ones I have had took forever to lock on and werent very good at staying locked. I havent had one in a few years though so they may have improved. I cant imagine they have though or they would all be internal antenna models.Bill Spence St. Albans, VT billspence@yahoo.com http://www.twinstatebassin.com Bass Cat Boats http://www.basscat.com Vexilar Marine Electronics http://www.vexilar.com
I only use Garmin units with an internal reciever, and I have never had an issue with it locking in on a location. From my experiece I see no need for taking up more space for an external antenna.
