Brand new 2023 bass cat cougar with a bad Humminbird at console. No 2d sonar, no depth reading. Was working for first hour of break in and stopped while running. How does one find the wires under the drivers console? Have traced the y-port to both in hull and transom transducers, but not a chance in hell in being able to pull them out to see if y-port is the problem. Any ideas? New BCB owner. Only reason for not taking it back to dealer to assist-live 14 hours away. Not easy to do.
You said you have no readings on 2d but are you getting anything on the DI/SI side in terms of the screen and depth? Or are you talking when running you are not getting 2d?
Looks like TakFishing has given you some good info to start troubleshooting. If you get to the point of having checked all the connections and the issue still isn’t revolved reach out to us so we can assess if it’s the thru-hull transducer. Thank you
We tried that for hours. Everything is so difficult to get to, so bunched together, zip tied together and can’t pull anything through. I was going to by pass the Y and hook direct but could not pull the ends through to disconnect from the Y. Thank you for the input.
We bought it Hall’s Marine in Muncy, PA. If there is a diagram of the wiring, or even knowing how long the y port is would be good. The only place along the cockpit to access the wires from the console to the stern are behind the shift lever panel.
OK, for starters, you don’t need to pull any cables or wires through anything to perform the Y cable related troubleshooting.
Start under the console…..yes, likely all excess cable lengths from the transducers and ethernet between console and bow unit will be bundled and zip tied together, along with the Y cable under the console. You will likely need to get up under there and snip a couple of the zip ties to give you some slack and pull the bundle out in order to do the troubleshooting and swap (Y cable bypass or replace). I recently did something similar on my 21 model and it was not difficult…much less so than 14 hours of driving to your dealer.
The Y cable will be located under the driver console and if you are facing and looking at the back of the unit, the single end of the Y cable will be plugged directly in to the head unit’s right most port (transducer). Yours may be slightly different depending on the unit and you may have a cable tray/cartridge that you have to remove first in order to swap out the transducer cable. If either of your transducers turn out to be bad, you can clip the transducer head off and use the old ducer wire to fish/pull through the gunnel and to the console.

even knowing how long the y port is would be good
The Y cable is either 24 or 30 inches long. It is located in its entirety under the console and the single end of it is installed directly into the back of your console unit. Can’t miss it once you pull the bundle and given its length, none of it will be in the gunnel…
well, that is sounding more promising. I was afraid of pulling other cables or electrical wires and causing damage. I will try that. Thank you for help. Love the boat! Absolutely best boat I’ve owned for sure.
If the Y cable is plugged into both transducers, then it should be operational. If you can unwrap the transducer cords and plug in the Transom SI tranducer direct, then you will be able to evaluate if it’s the Sonar transducer or the Dash unit.
Did you figure out your issue?
I had the same issue, no depth/sonar/image on helm unit – Helix 10, on 2022 Pantera.
I sent the unit back to Humminbird in Alabama. I’m in Houston, TX. Had it back fixed within 5 days. Super impressed with their customer service.
I’d be glad to discuss my process further if needed, good luck!
