I will have a 997 on the console and a 797 on the bow, linked with the puck up front. I want to be able to use the 997 at speed (as a standard sonar) and know that a separate transducer may be necessary. How do you guys set this up? Thanks in advance for all the great advice.

Yes, you have to have another transducer installed in the bilge of the boat. You can either wire that in to the graph with a “Y” cable or a switch box but one of the two are your options. Judd Lasiter

Is this something that is done at BassCat when ordering this setup- I know they glass in transducers as they are built.

I dont know if you have your mind set on it but SI has limited utility on the bow. You may want to save some money and get a non-SI unit. For one thing, I dont think the 2d sonar (which youll most likely using most on the bow) is that great on the 797. Also, the SI works best at about 3 to 5 mph and as strait as you can keep the boat. Thats cruising with the TM. Just a thought in case you havent considered it.

I meant 787, but now Ive changed my mind up to the 957. Thanks for the input, guys!
