Well, I have come to the end of a long journey. Thanks to all that helped. I will try to make this short. Had a 595 at the console, decided to buy a 797C2i for the nose/troll motor. Worked ok with the 767 brute Motorguide, but I decided to upgrade to the Protour 82. DIsaster! the pro tour wiped out the display on the 797 best you could do was give it a shot and coast. another problem is the 797 really doesnt work unless you are over 2 MPH. While this was going on, upgraded the 595 (beam way to narrow for 15 foot lakes and no side scan or imaging posibility) with a 787C2i and a transducer in the hull, better. Back to the SI and PT. Bass cat, Humminbird and Motorguide all contacted. BCB saide ground the foot pedal and the head to the common ground. That worked but only about half. I spent the time to shield ALL the power wires from the batteries to the troller, all the way through the sheath to the head, no change. Shielded the power wires to the 797, no change. In all this Motorguide called back, “uh, Houston, we have a problem” the SI works around the same freq as the digital motor. they said DONt ground the case. Humminbird called back, “UHH, we have a fix, but you cant have it yet” have talked to them 2 times since, should have the “kit” next week, free. It is 2 “chokes” one for the power wires to the troller, and one set for the power wires to the 797. AND a ferrite ring that you loop the transducer wires through. If that doesnt work, there is a nickle covered transducer. With all that hassel, and some good advice from the board, I decided to change. moved the 797 to the drivers station, transducer on the jack plate. Left the 787 transducer (dual beam) in the hull and added a switch so I can cruise 2-6 mph, gotta love the troll feature in teh smart craft guages) and then switch to the dual beam once on plane. Works great! I put the 787 on the nose and bough a “wide side” transducer for it. It works great! Magic, tried it all out this morning, clear blue sky, 83 degree water, trolled around, saw some stuff under the water, 7 ft stained. With SI, looped around, 2 casts, BANG, keeper. Last item to add will be the interlink so I can mark the spot with the 797, then transfer the mark to the 787 map on the nose. I love it when a plan works. The lake I fish the most has tons of docks, and very little bottom structure, so each little rock and bump this time of year has potential. Last issue, the voltage on all the units was more than a volt lower that the SC volt meter, Moved the power wires for the humminbirds (I also have a matrix 37 on the nose and the origianl Telex at the driver station) to the accessory switch in the side panel. Gained some voltage, but still a half volt off. Thanks to BCB and all for the help. Humminbird rocks also. Milton
notliM), You got where we would have put you from the start. We have only been able to reduce the interference is those case. We often sell and SI for bow use, though we all run standard graphs on the bow. The SI need to run about 1.5 MPH to work well on display as slow scrolling speeds we have found. Also the 3.5 to 5 MPH on the console works well! The Internlink will give you double markings of GPS, which means two (2) Number 4 way points and etc., etc., etc. Though it will share both those number 4 waypoints. Grounding does help the image on the graphs also. BCB
One last thing, Motorguide strongly recommended to unplug the Troller or at least turn the foot pedal off on the PT BEFORE CHARGING (with charger or the big motor charging system). seems that there is a sense wire that stays hot all the time and if you hit it with a high amp draw or voltage, it could do damage. I imaging this is the same with the minkotta digital systems. Not sure I buy that, the batteries serve as a pretty good capaciter. Milton
