Im replacing the HB 778 unit at the bow with a Helix7 on my 2013 P2 and I have some questions.it looks like the Transducer for the 778 is mounted somewhere up in the bow during construction and I cant get to it.Is it OK just to leave it and roll the cable up in the cavity under the trolling motor?Im trying to get to the existing power connection but it is possibly taped to other wires and I dont want to cause a loose connection for something else, by pulling on it to much.there are a set of red and black wires with connectors on the end (for future accessories to be added?) that appear to be plugged with silicone.Can I use them to power the new unit (18g multi stand wire required) and should I put the 3amp fuse here ?thanks for your help

Best install is to run power wires directly to the battery, and install your fuse close to the battery. Use 10 or 12 gauge tinned marine wire. This is what HB recommends, and helps to avoid issues later on.

What is the best route to get the wires to the bilge from the bow. I can see the trolling motor power cables in the floor drain. If can get there From the front the rest would be pretty easy. Any reason why I wouldnt want to go that route?i cant get to the port side because I have a 10 gal kicker tank and going down the Starbord side would be even more difficult with all the other harnesses running down that side.

I think running it through the center drain is an option, but most do run down the starboard gunnel. I used the flexible fiberglass rods below to run my wires. Others have used a variety of wiring snakes, strings, and poles. It should be fairly easy to run wire from the recessed trolling motor area to the starboard storage box. From there is where the rods really make the job easier. Take the chrome vent off the back corner of the boat. Run the rods all the way up to the starboard storage. Wow, I think Ive got this now.After checking out my access options, I just realized I have a Pull string that I put from back starboard to the console when I installed my Talon for the ignition alarm. Now I just need to get to the console from the bow and I can access that through the rod box most of the way. The only thing to do is snake the wire 2 feet up in the nose.Thanks for all the help, it made me look a little harder and now it looks like it should be a breeze.

BCB install the puck some 3 to 4 feet back from the bow if I recall and it is glassed in. Just snake you a new cable threw the gunnel and use the same power connection.
