I know this may not be appropriate to ask but I need your experienced opinions please. What trail camera is the best at taking night time still (clear) photos. Something under $300. I dont want it for actual hunting, just for taking photos of my back yard feeders. Have all kinds of varmints. Thanks Glynn
From what Ive noticed you get what you pay for like so many other things. One other thing i can say is the cameras with the IR tend to not take the greatest pics at low light. The Cuddeback is a great camera and recommended by many, the Moultrie cameras are good for the price. Wildgame innovations makes a good camera and they arent that expensive either. Your local sporting goods retailer should have them in stock. If you are looking for a deal i was just sent this link of a camera on amazon.com for a Wildgame Innovations 6mp camera. http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Game-Innovations-Digital-Scouting/dp/B004ZICB1Y/ref=xs_gb_bd_A9I!54pIall-?_encoding=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1324396906&sr=1-16&pf_rd_p=441937801&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=04M7H5QKKK4146TT8ZBYIm sure the other brands have great customer service but WG Innovations has great support to back it up. We had one of these cameras set up at the cabin over some apples and have videos of bears eating apples and licking the camera. The videos are very clear as well. Remember though you may not want to see what is really going through your back yard, like the bears that were finishing off our cases of mountain dew and cooking grease on the deck at our cabin. Good luck
Nelacat,You may want to check the following reviews. http://www.trailcampro.com/2011trailcamerashootout.aspxhttp://www.gamecamerasreviews.com/http://hunting-supplies-net.com/reviews/
I have a couple cameras I bought on sale for $25 and take great pictures. Since you have feeders set up then trigger speed is not important. However since you do have feeders and lots of critters that means you will have tons of pictures. In your case I would look at something that has the best battery life. Youll be taking so many pictures youll be dumping big dollars in batteries. Especially when its cold. My cameras were cheap but when it was really cold I was putting 4 “D” batteries in every 3 days.
http://www.trailcampro.com/hcoscoutguardsg550.aspxI got a Scoutguard550 in 2009 and it has worked great. I figure I have taken well over 400 30 second videos with it. Two be pluses are it uses 8 AA batteries and they lasted me over 3 months. The other plus is that is is about the size of a coke can. It is IR so the night shots are black and white.Chasingame.com

Thats the kind of results Im looking for. Thanks for the photo.
I have a Cuddeback Capture and a Moultrie D-40. The Cuddeback was running $199 but I believe they are now $119. The Moultrie is not as good but does the job and it was cheaper. Here are a few of my pics from this year. These are from the Cuddeback……. This is the same deer at a different stand taken by the Moultrie. This one was 14 points and killed by a 12 year old hunter. If you get Louisiana Sportsman magazine or visit the website you can see the lucky little guy with MY deer.
