Hydraulic Jack Plate Question

It doesnt get me in shallower water, but I can run it up some without having to trim up as much. Some anglers like it so they can easily raise or lower based on load for optimum performance. Once you get a manual plate set you can leave it there in most situations. With all that said, the last cougar I had used one, and the one I am picking up next week has one. I have had a hydraulic plate since 1987 on the last 6 rigs, not only are they useful for max performance, they really bring out their benefits when in rough water. You can lower the plate and stop blowout. In extreme shallow water, lift the plate all the way up and you can be on plane quicker especially on long shallow flats. I also always load on and off the trailer with the plate all the way up.
