I finally broke down and purchased a 798c and 788ci, installed them, and linked the two together. I have added some pics. I also have a trolling motor transducer protecter on order and will install when it arrives. Now i just have to clean everything up from cutting the console and learn how to use all of it.
Congrats on your installs. Very nice and clean. Just hope your rear transducer doesnt get damaged from impact. Wish you had the jack plate for that install, would last longer. Now go catch some fish! Glynn
Thanks Glynn! I was really worried about this install because in all honesty, i had no idea what i was doing. The directions were good though along with a hummingbird representive. I would love to add a jack plate, but i think the wife just put a halt to me spending anymore money for awhile. Between my two major hobbies (fishing and hunting) and golf some, i spend and can admit, way to much money sometimes. Anyway, i hope to in the near future to get me one of those sweet Cougars or Pumas. Maybe i am just dreaming, but i might can possibly slip it by the wifey in the next couple of years.
Brian, your transducer looks good to me. I just checked mine and its directly below my jackplate. Let us know how it works. Nice job. Just one pointer for you since I have a similar model. I have the 797cSI in dash unit. When using side imaging for optimum clarity for cover like objects when using your SI I would reduce your SI distance to 100 to 75. I use 75 and the images look very detailed. 150 is good but you get more detail the lower you go. Enjoy! misr12
I have been outside tinkering around with the new units. I got the navionics bundle in the 798c. How do i get to the maps of the lakes, or is this something that comes up when your on the lake? The wife is sick, and i am having to watch the little one so i can not get the water to try it out.
Thanks misr12. I need all the help/advice i can get with the new units. Dont get me wrong, i did a lot of research before i purchased, but i need help it seems learning how to actually use.

I use lowrance. I access maps by Zooming out untill you can see the state/lake, use the arrow keys to move the cursor/cross hare over the desired area, then Zoom in. Im sure it is simple with HB also. Phil should be able to tell you for sure since he now uses HB. Glynn
As stated above. Use the arrow key to move the cursor over the area and then zoom in.
Brian, Great looking job. One thing though, I notice on the picture of the inter link that you have the unit mounted with the plugs on the top. Do you have a enough cable to flip the interlink? I would be worried about condensation possibly getting into the plug area. I know it is located under the dash but you never know.
Thanks to everyone for the info. I actually got to take it out on a couple of the local area lakes. Although i still do not completely understand every function completely, i did learn the basics. A few more outings and i should have everything down. The side scan is the best. There is one lake that i went to and found structure that i never knew was there. That explained a lot about how just about everytime i went, i could catch fish there. Another particular part i like was that i could zoom out like nela cougar and Phil advised, found Lake Norfork, and could look around the lake at the different depth contours. It is a start, being that i am only going to get to pre-fish it about 1 1/2 days. Anyway, so far i am completely satisfied with my purchase and installation. Thanks again to everyone for your input and allowing me to be part of the BCB family.
