I have a 2000 Classic with a 200 EFI Mercury. Quicksilver 3000 Classic commander control. Over the weekend I started getting a beep beep beep from under the dash. I stopped boat. Check both oil tank in bilge area (Full) and took cowl off. Checked oil tank in front of motor and noticed that the tank was a little low. Cap was on tight so not sure if air got into tank. Water coming out of telltail as well so not impeller. Drove back to dock (5 miles) with the noise going the whole way. Brought boat home and pulled out hose with ears. Same thing happened. I decided to search further on line and found to start the motor and allow oil to rise in tank under cowl to fill. Actual overfill I should say what a mess. Put cap on tight. Cleaned mess and the ran motor for maybe two mins before shutting off. Waited about 10 mins and tried to start motor just to be safe and same thing happened. Turned key and Beep Beep Beep but the noise sounded like it was shorting out. weak noise then loud coming from the little black unit. Wondering if water shorted out unit under dash. I am confident both oil tanks are full as I checked and caps are tight as I could get them, I also checked my fuel filter/separator. Both OK. My question is could the Mercury switch or noise device have shorted since I drove it back to ramp 5 miles? Can I replace part at a marina or do i have to obtain from mercury direct? Thank you in advance.
