Basscat, this is not a complaint but more of a question just out of curiousity. I have a 2007 Cougar FTD and I am scared that I am eventually going to break my ignition key off in the ignition due to the fact that I hit it repeatedly during a tournament day getting in and out of the drivers seat. I have bent it so many times that I am scared that eventually it will break. Is there any reason why the ignition could not be relocated over to the right side of the console panal so you would not hit it with your legs when you get up and down from the drivers seat. And yes, I do realize that I could avoid hitting the ignition key, but during a tournament and the excitement of it all, I tend to forget about the ignition key. I absolutely love my boat. It is awesome. It is fast, fishes incredible, looks great, and the best made boat I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Would not fish out of anything else. I was just curious about this and I was wondering if I could have my dealer relocate the switch without causing any problems. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Greg Griggers

My 08 Cougar FTD has the key by the throttle. Out of the way completely. Looks like they already addressed the issue. I am not a big key guy anyway. To me, there should just a “Start” button. A key as an option would be OK but I have never taken the key out of my boat and every Ranger out there with the keypad has 1-2-3-4 to start it. Not to hijack your thread but am I the only one who never takes the key out and feels like it is a waste?Bill Spence St. Albans, VT billspence@yahoo.com http://www.twinstatebassin.com Bass Cat Boats http://www.basscat.com Vexilar Marine Electronics http://www.vexilar.com

You arent the only one Never had a problem with the location of the key but I know some have. My 09 boat has the new kickin radio where the key would normally go and the key is over by the shifter. I have 12 hours on the motor and still catch myself reaching to the left of the steering wheel for the key . Old habits die hard I guess. You can move the key without to much trouble but filling that hole might be a trick. Judd Lasiter

Think I mightve rubbed the gel coat off in a couple of areas already I shouldve taken some pictures today but was lazy today… Judd Lasiter
It sounds like BCB has solved the “problem.” I had an 06 Cougar FTD and never once had a problem with the key being on the left side. Must be the way you get out of the seat or something.
You can go to an electrical supply house or Home Depot and get a snap in (silver color) or a weatherproof (ugly gray)KO seal. Measure the hole and buy accordingly. Both can be painted. The weatherproof seal will allow you to cover the hole with out any drilling or cutting. Martin
I made a protective shield for mine. Posted pictures a while back. Somebody already posted the link above. Bob La Londe http://www.YumaBassMan.com–Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com
