I am seeking help from a Texas owner to lay eyes on a boat in Wylie.I have found what appears to be a lovely 95 Pantera II in which I am interested. Being over 20 hours away is making my decision process very difficult. If you are in that area and can spare the time to do so, I am looking for an educated, eyes-on inspection to see if the purchase is appropriate. Thanks for considering responding to this appeal.Michael
hey michael, I know the feeling. I live on the texas/oklahoma border and looked in arkansas and alabama when I purchased my boat. I am about an hour and 15 mins from there and would be willing to help you out if you cannot find anyone closer. One other thing to consider is Rockwall Marine, a Bass Cat Dealer, could do a pre-purchase inspection to give you an un-biased evaluation of the boat. Rockwall Marine has a bunch of great guys and they will take care of you. Im sure the owner of the boat in Wylie knows of Rockwall Marine. Good luck with the purchase.Mason
Crank1up has a good idea, If he really wants to sell it he should have no problem taking it to Rockwall Marine and have some one check it out. I might be able to help but not until next weekend 2/15 or 16. I live in The Colony. Is that the red one on Boat Trader at Affordable Boats?Last edited by Bassdeer on February 7th, 2014, 12:36 am, edited 1 time in total.
Hire a boat surveyor to do an inspection report if not the Rockwall dealer. The surveyor will take moisture readings of the transom and do a full report on the boat. Will give you any deficiencies.

Tommy Yetts is good people!
Bassdeer, It is the red one on Boat Trader at Affordable Boats. The gentleman that I spoke to said that the boat had been serviced at the local (30 miles away) Bass Cat dealer, probably a reference to Rockwall Marine. I do appreciate the responses. Having sold two cars long distance I am familiar with some of what this will entail, but I have not bought long distance. A lot of it is faith in the seller I suppose.Crank1up, I appreciate the offer and hope I avoid such an imposition. The suggestions to have Rockwall do a PPI or to hire a surveyor seem quite reasonable.I used to sell, rig, and repair these boats so I am really itching to get one in the garage to prep for a spring return to the water after being away too long. Ill update this thread as things come into focus.Again, thanks for all the reponses.Michael
Michael – I have a 1997 Pantera II here in Virginia. It has a dual console with windshields, 1995 Mercury 150 with less than 150 hours. I have had both hip and back problems, had my hip replaced last year and that is the reason the motor does not have a lot of hours. Being 75 does not help as I cannot take the long hours fishing anymore. The boat has been winterized every year and both the mechanics name and repair records are available. The oil injection system was replaced in 2013 along with the check valve. The fuel hoses have been replaced, new impeller and lower unit gear. The battery charger was replaced in 2007. There are new tires on the trailer, aluminum wheels. The two 20 gallon gas tanks were pumped out, gel removed from the oil tank. I had a tune up each fall to be ready for spring. The steering cables were replaced lat year. So it has been well maintained over the years. The boat has a radio, stereo speakers, seats are in good condition as is the carpeting. The trailer is single axle, bearings replaced and lubed. Multiple lighted storage compartments and two live wells. The electric motor is a Motor Guide with hand controls. There is some oxidation, minor scratches here and there but nothing obnoxious. The boat has been covered, oxidation is on the lower area.Give me a call 757-870-1100 and lets talk.billu

As far as the oxidation, Pro Tec would surely be able to guide you to improve those areas. A 17 year old boat with 150 hours is rare. Personally, I would never buy a boat that I can not see for myself, even if others have looked it over on my behalf.
Thanks for your insights, Catdude 28.Many good points Billu; certainly worth considering.I think you should start a new ad for this boat, though, as not many viewers will find it here. What are the electronics like; fishfinders, gps, etc? That could be worth knowing. Also, when you post on your own listing be sure to include a price. Is this a digital dash boat? If so, how is that working? Ill call you this evening.Michael
