2005 Sabre. Right now I have a X-102C wired to the front accesory switch and its worked fine for almost 2 years. I was wondering if I could install a 520C the same way? Only thing that would be different is I have to wire up the GPS antenna also.. Will I be able to wire the Screen power wires and the GPS power wires together to the bow accessory switch without any issues ? Also, the manual says to use a power-off switch on both power wires. Im assuming since the manual shows it wired to just a battery, my Master Power switch will take care of that ? 3rd and last question: for those with front GPS, where did you mount your GPS antenna so it has a clear view of the sky ? Thanks and Happy Holidays2005 Sabre, 150 XR6, Minn Kota Fortrex with Lowrance electronics
What do you have at the console? I have a 520c at the console and will add another “head Unit Only” at the bow very soon (almost half the price) and use the console GPS receiver by linking the 2 units. Just a thought, if you are able to link what you have at the console with your new 520c bow unit. I had some power issues on my accessory switch and had my guys at Rockwall Marine wire it direct to the master switch and have not had anymore problems with it switching off when I cranked the engine. Good Luck! MikeJmtfrisco, Texas
mount lgc3000 on rear strarbord there is a sweet spot for that so it will mount level . others have been mounting gps attena[lcg3000] on catpet but on the sabre thereis space ss ask this do you have a networkable lowrance at the console? if not i would strongly suggest that you purchase a lowrance lms522i instead of 520c the 522 has a built in gps receiver that requires no external att. clean instlation less to mess with and there is no difference in accuracy and with it being up front it will have a great look at the sky. the only advantage with the network is that when u r n driver seat and hit waypoint watpoint at the console it places the same waypoint on the unit up front the two un its together will not do map sharing.
having key troubles above i was saying that space is an issue on sabre
Some good points you guys. Problem is, Im using a LMS-480 at the console, so it uses the 2000 antenna (I think). I could have ordered the 522, but I was un-sure on the internal antenna. You always read about the internal antenna issues, but maybe theres more out there that are not having problems. I know what you are saying jmt56tx, about the unit switching off when cranking the outboard. My 102C does that now.2005 Sabre, 150 XR6, Minn Kota Fortrex with Lowrance electronics
You should be able to hook those wires up the same way at the front Acc switch. Check the voltage drop and that should be your only concern. BCB
I have the 102C mounted on the bow and would like to upgrade to GPS also. BCB – from your comments, did you state the cables from the 102C will match up with a 520C ? Only need to install the GPS receiver? FYI – on the internal GPS, Ive used them on previous boats on the console with no issues, but the receiver would lose signal on the bow when faced up.
I have a 334c on the bow of my Sabre FTD and have no issues with it dropping the signal. That may be because it is on a RAM mount and is up a little higher. The 334c hold the signal better than the 520c in the console. Wayne
I mounted my GPS antenna right behind my TM mount as you can see in the photo but I have the PIV, not sure if the Sabre has the same room. I aslo tied into the acc switch at the bow but am have some voltage drop issues and will be rewiring it to the master switch very soon.Steven BokemeyerMontgomery, Texas
Thanks for the pic, I will check that area tomorrow. What kind of voltage drop issues ? Mine will shut down if Im cranking the outboard, but I usually shut it off when I make a long run. Are you saying it drains the batteries too much when the boat is in storage ?2005 Sabre, 150 XR6, Minn Kota Fortrex with Lowrance electronics
