looking at a p4 with lighted compartments and i was thinking of adding the alarm system to it. can this be done after the fact? what would i need to do this? can it be done by me or should it be left upto a dealership? also does anyone know what it might cost to add an alarm? this is a 2003 p4. thanks sean
You could buy a Rottweiler to leave in the boat when parked for a few hundred bucks. Very efficient, VERY easy to install, and would be a hoot to watch that alarm go off!
You can look for an alarm that senses a change in battery voltage. Once the rod boxes are opened and the light comes on the alarm will sound. I have one on my PII and it works great. Installation on these type are pretty simple. I also installed the vibration sensor but it will set itself off when in a boat slip in the water. If the water is rough you will get false alarms but if the boat is on the trailer and someone gets on it or jostles it around it will set the alarm off…
I think you can do it as long as you have the mercury switches for the rod boxes and other compartments. Call Scott at Bass Cat on Monday and talk to him about it.
