Installing hotfoot, screw holes in floor?

In my 95 Pantera II, I will be installing a hotfoot this spring. Ive done this before with my Skeeter.So I am assuming I need about 3 foot longer cable? Anyways, my main question is about the screw holes I make….tell me how to drill carpet? Do I need to seal the holes?I will be cleaning all the bilge area of this (new to me boat) too…and if there are any mystery screw holes, theyll need sealing too.Thanks for your expertise!

Be very careful…….there is no hot foot pad. You can easily drill or screw thru the boat bottom ( Hull ) if you place the hot foot where you think it should normally be ! Theres just not much space between the floor and the bottom of the hull…….Short screws are a must !!

You dont have to drill into the floor to mount your hot foot. Use a peace of metal ( as wide or a little more then the hot foot) with a 90 degree bend (at least 6 inch long) ( I used 1/4 polished SS) Bolt through the front console,into the rod box. You may have to make the 90 bend at a slight angle, so the hot foot can be placed at a angle. Mine has been this way for a number of yrs, with out any problems

A 1995 model is seldom in great condition on the floor to support the hot foot and it requires a slide or/and plate to support it. To seal the floor we suggest you use resin and set the screws in resin through the carpeting. We use a large syringe to achieve injecting the resin.

I just want to be clear, my floor is solid. So would I need the slide/base plate?How do you drill carpet? I was thinking a razor slice, then drill on the slice…

I would be glad to send photos,if you like. You dont drill into the floor therefore no water intrusion.

I mounted the adjustable slide plate to the floor, and mounted the hot foot to it. Mine is a 93, and floor is solid as a rock. I moved it toward the center of the boat a little, and turned the front toward the center a shade and used short screws and just drill through the carpet and floor with no problems. Just Mark your drill bit with wrapping of tape to make sure you dont go no deeper than you intend.

We suggest you seat the screws in resin and use a plate or slider for more base support.
