Internal antenna

I just wanted to find out if anyone has had any issues regarding the internal antenna mount GPS units from Lowrance in the dash. Does it still get a proper signal in the fiberglass? I have been told that it doesnt read well and to install an external mount.Thanks for your help. I have the HDS7 and HDS5 going in soon.If you cant convince them, confuse them.

I have the hds 8 mounted in my dash and it worked ok. I just networked an external antenna to the system and it seems to load info much faster now.

Ive got a 522 mounted in my dash. No problems so far, and it will even get my gps position inside my garage.
