Is the 47" ghost trolling motor long enough

I fish Sam Rayburn , had the 52 ” ultrex if it was coming out of the water it was to rough to fish anyway… also when going up show I have to raise it uo so high it gets in the way of casting. I was wondering if any of pros pros that are running it where saying they needed longer or if 47″ was good for a puma ftd.thanks

I’ve been considering it also, I did watch some MLF fishing last few days and it looks like it’s a little Jerky I seen mike almost get tossed out I believe, I think Anything over 47 the waters to ruff my self but I see guys out in it and catching fish

If a 52” Ultrex is not enough then you should get a longer shaft.

I didnt say the 52″ wasnt long enough.I said if the 52″ was coming out of the water then it was to rough to be on the lake in general ..I only asked because I’ve heard that with the bigger boats the 47″ wasnt long enough. But then guys say with bass cat the 47″ was long enough for big water. My bad

IMO the 47in would be the happy median between the two sizes.

For me a 52 would be too tall when fishing shallow. A lot depends on your fishing style.

The lowrance is real laggy. I would try to get with someone on the water and compare.

Finally spent the weekend out on the water with my Ghost on 2019 Lynx. The 47″ shaft actually seems to be the right length for my needs. I removed a 52″ Ultrex that in my opinion was a little long and in the way when stowed. The motor function and the quiet operation I really liked. I didn’t think it was possible but the foot pedal actually took less effort fishing in the breeze than the Minnkota. This was the first weekend using it but right now I call it a home run for Lowrance.

I still have some set-up to do with Lowrance Livesight, but I’ll report back on opinions when I have had an opportunity to get some hours on it. I may even drop some video on it.

There is definitely some cools gadgets hitting the market right now. Exciting times!

Thanks for the input. Mine is being installed this week . They said that the 52″ wouldnt be ready till june july anyway.. but I heard that the 47 was long enough for a puma and lynx!! Like you said my 52 ultrex was just to much when it was racked back any and i had to put all my rods on one side or I’d smash reel handles amd stuff if i didnt watch it … thanks .
