I just tie some heavy cord to my 3/4 inch wrench and loop it around my wrist so I dont lose it in case it slips out of my hand when adjusting on the water. The marks prior to moving are a GREAT idea. Make sure to bring the sides back flush before tightening back up on the slidemaster plate. The center nut is the same size as your prop wrench, 1 1/16 sounds right. Ive adjusted mine many times on the water and carry spare tools in the boat in case I need to drop it in really rough water because of where I normally run mine. Carry a towel this time of year Bill had the best idea, if you are just dialing it in for the first time a weekday at the ramp with a few props and keeping good notes with each movement on water pressure, JP height, fuel load, etc…. is time consuming loading and unloading but it sure keeps you from bending over the back of the baot a bunch and allows you to measure pad height and take a break on dry land for a minute between runs.
