Hello everyone, has anyone heard about the new Jaguar as mentioned in this years brochure?
Also what would the Basscat owners like to see on upcoming models???
I know R&D was still in progress. I believe the goal was to release it during Spring which is nearly over. I am sure BCB will have some hard facts on where its at in future production dates.
Hello BassCat fans, I would like to add my two cents in regards to what I’d like to see BassCat change/add/innovate.
First off you should ” spank (correct or encourage) the one you love when something is wrong” I say this because I see some glaring changes that will enhance and update the line up. I am NOT bashing but rather SHOWING and TELLING what fellow anglers say about BassCat boats.
I know Correct Craft (owners of BassCat) and the Pierce family are aware of the winning product they have, output is increasing and I hear they are growing the facility that makes BassCat boats. A lifetime hull warranty that is transferable to several owners speaks highly of the boat and is unheard of among other bass boat manufacturers. I know of several innovations pioneered by BassCat and tell fellow fisherman of them. ” Hey look at this recessed trolling motor”, I then say nicely yep BassCat had that decades earlier…, “this bass boat has a touch pad for boat functions, yep BassCat had that years earlier.”And there are other innovations.
Why and what am I trying to say???
For example here in northern Ohio this weekend we had our “Mosquito Madness” 2-day tournament where the winners walked away with 10 grand. As I was fishing in a cove this weekend I heard a thud and a couple of 4 letter words from a boater’s co angler. Why his anger, he said that twice he stumbled and fell from the raised chrome hinges from the BassCat rear deck.Hmmmm, I saw the owner of the Eyra later in the evening and we dock talked about the tournament and the stumbling co angler, he confessed he hit the deck as did other folks he fished with. Not, I repeat NOT a deal breaker, I KNOW why they do this for the ease of rear deck access for maintenance, A+ idea but they can still achieve this with recessed hinges.
I talked with the tournament staff on Friday about everything fishing and bass boat models came up. Folks it really is Ford, Dodge, Chevy, even Toyota in the world of bass boats. Each fights for their brand, sometimes a bit foolishly. I talked about BassCats firsts, ride, and lifetime hull warranty…
You wanna know what I heard, yes you do. I’m quoting from them, fellow BassCat owners, please don’t give me grief.
“The interior is from the 70’s and 80’s, they are outdated”
“Look at that steering wheel, it’s hideous” (yes I know why BassCat makes it that way)
This is from several anglers, ” Look at the gaskets around those triangular lids, all kinked in the corners and for a 70,000 dollar boat, no thanks, can you imagine the quality of the stuff you can’t see”
“Look how forward the recessed trolling motor is, it is awkward to use” (Sabre model)
“Look at the weird angles of the lids and deck layouts, it looks like a high school project” Not my words I REPEAT again.
I write this because SOME of these comment do hit home with me but you “don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater” (look that up if you haven’t heard that before)
All of this I hope creates dialogue within the owners group AND from the company that makes these awesome boats.
Anyhow these are my two cents, actually with inflation it’s considerably higher… 😉
Thank you to all that add something constructive, bashing other boat brands won’t advance BassCat’s cause.
There are always improvements with any created product that come with actual hands on use after design.
BCB seems to listen. When the Lynx first came out, the main rod locker opened from the right. After input from BCB owners/viewing the prototype, they changed the design to open from the left.
The Eyra day box had to be accessed by opening the entire right coffin locker. BCB listened, and it now has its own small access door.
The BCB owners wanted a more up to date design in lieu of the carpeted step. There is now a new fiberglass step to match the color and design of the rest of the boat.
The forward set TM pedal now can be adjusted aft on the Eyra, Caracal, and Lynx. Its one of the attributes of a BCB and why I own one. I have used my buddies new Nitro, and the pedal set further back is almost inconvenient to use while I’m pitching and skipping.
The consoles have all been redesigned and updated, along with the steering wheel and seats as of 2016. What looks out of date (70’s and 80’s) to me is the plastic black panels on the Nitro, Phoenix, and Triton.
The one thing about being a BCB owner is the ability to come on here and state something, an issue, a idea, a change, and know that the company will read it and usually comment. Some things BCB will change, some they wont. Example: the Lay out of the Caracal, though non symmetrical (As compared to the standard bass boat design) is the favorite among the owners. Its has become the standard in the BCB design, and so has the Lynx. In the new 2019 Brochure, the statement from Rick P is “Everything has a reason”. It may be non symmetrical, but it WORKS!
With that said, I believe the one change BCB owners would like to see as MoggyBass stated, is a hidden hinge for the Bilge locker doors. I love that they are totally removable, and though they have never been a trip issue for myself, I can see where it can be.

I have a 1998 jaguar fished a lot of years from the back when it was my Dads boat never once tripped on the exposed hinges.
First: Bass Cat has never been a cookie cutter boat. That doesn’t offend us so don’t let it offend you.
As for the “ugly” comment, we are never going to see that end as most say that based on the older fin style designs of those original Pantera II and Sabre models pre 1999. The new round bodied Eyra led to today’s competitive designs. Though production was limited and led to the P3 and original Jaguar models. Followed by others and while those led visions of design, the ugly label won’t be ending in use.
Once any brand gets tagged, they forget to look at today’s models, it just becomes a stigma we have to live with. Building a cookie cutter would not end opinion, and only the product quality would rise any above that.
Presently the backorder is out about 10 to 16 weeks max, model dependent. The output was maxed almost 3 years back and we could not build enough boats at a time when sales were out almost 8 months from order date at one time. While the long wait times held back orders, the demand was still strong. In those last 30 months at one point our growth achieved a 20% per annual year market share gain. Until the facility maxed production and the market caught us, we were the strongest growing brand among bass boats. That can’t continue when more boats can’t be built, eventually the market caught us and we are only maintaining.
The company only has to achieve a 10% market share to reach maximum capacity in the new facility. They have already proven the company has more than enough demand to achieve this. In order do this
The Pantera Classic is not mainstream and has proven its demand exceeds expectations.
The Lynx is not mainstream and exceeded expectations, and continues to do so.
The Caracal is not mainstream and is exceeding our expectations, plus it is selling more 225 engines than most any other brand.
The Eyra was boat of the year when introduced and set the stage for designs to come and those now in the market. It was labeled a gorgeous boat and even then the ugly label follows us.
Before this the Jaguar built a solid reputation as “the” premium boat in the market.
The trolling recess was labeled a gimmick, till Angler’s tried it. Eventually the patent was allowed to expire and others jumped on the recess, just as they jumped on many other aspects.
Features like triangle lids and livewells are good, while removable hinges and more are time saving. We find it hard to believe anyone tripped on the 3/8” hinge elevation on the back deck. You simply don’t stride in step when your fishing inside a 7’ span. As for the Lynx it was always supposed to be the other direction and only the Prototype got the lids reversed. Either way actually would work the same however.
Most simply wont look strongly at the new product and a 1980’s Ranger 350 or 370 series does not represent the present product Ranger builds, in a 520L series. Good bad or indifferent, lower production more eyes to all our boats no matter the ages. People notice and retain a memory on older product. You notice a 1990’s Geo Metro, though overlook a hundred 1990’s Chevrolet Impala’s
We are growing and we will grow more with the plan going forward. There more than enough market for all and while your local anglers might have injections on those features and you obviously have developed an opinion, don’t let weigh in conversation between your bass club offend you. When you drop the throttle running out hard, then come back soft and dry, they do envy that.

BassCats are the most well thought out, best built, tournament boats available. You get to the fish, quick and dry, the boat works to help you catch them, and then the livewell system keeps them alive and happy for weighin. The opinions of soggy guys in the rearview mirror don’t really matter.
moggybass seems to be a bass boat wanna be critic. I think he spends too much time thinking about how to pick apart the best boat in the industry, this messed him up in his Mosquito Tournament and he placed poorly. If I am not mistaken isn’t the mosquito the logo for skeeter boats maybe he is confused?
Hello and a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to all the positive feedback.
I am blown away that BassCat would respond, and I say thank you once again. This really is a class act!
I did know that BassCat was expanding because I spoke to a secretary from there who mentioned this some time ago, kudos to all the staff at BassCat.
I do want to say I am going to upgrade to a Caracal hopefully sooner or later, I am currently talking to an out of state dealer, fingers crossed. I saw this boat in person in Columbus at Sherm’s Marine display and he mentioned it truly is a big water boat. I fish Erie, Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, Buffalo harbor, and even the Niagara river and Lake Ontario. The boat is deep and he promised a smooth ride in choppy waters.
I understand why BassCat do what they do,(is that proper English?) the layouts, the electronics, the livewells and it does make sense and I see the method to their madness. To the BassCat staffer or if it was Rick Pierce answering, thanks again for your answers, I am a lifetime customer and “advertiser.” I do have my likes and dislikes with boats, cars, trucks, planes, and even people-lol, I will professionally give kudos and rarely some “tough love” to all mentioned above.
P.S. I rarely do tournaments and the “Mosquito Madness” I mentioned earlier ended yesterday and happily I took home a check, top 15. Check it out on “dobass.com”
I just fished a tournament where I put the ultrex on spot lock in a big wind and me and the co-angler fished off the back deck of the Jag without a single trip on the hinges. Every boat can get picked apart butt he quality of BCB is there when you cross a rough lake and your boat did not come apart.
