I just recently got a 2010 Jaguar w/ a 250 SHO and Im getting it set up for the season here in NH. I have been toying with the idea of putting a couple of powerpoles on it even though I really dont know how much Ill use them. I figured this would be a good spot to get some feedback on a couple of questions I had…1. I almost always fish team tournaments and dont fish a ton of super-shallow water. Are these poles going to be a nightmare for my non-boater?2. Ive heard a few horror stories about poles being a bit of a “drag” in the water especially on take-off. Plus the added weight of the poles and the pumps, will there be a noticeable speed loss?3. The powerpole dealer locally, and their website really dont list any benefit of the “Blade” series besides offering a couple extra colors. From what I can tell they are actually about 6# heavier each… any reason to spend the extra $ on the blade models?4. I have the standard slidemaster 8″ jackplate… is there a side-mount bracket that I could use off the jackplate versus having to unbolt and rehang the engine?Any thoughts/ideas/coments would be helpful. I do beleave they make a side mount for that jackplate and the blade is thiner so it has less wind drag. And has all the wireless controls so it is alot faster install. The blade is the only 10 ft model out as of now. Other then that both r good units and really come in handy alot. Now twin blades coast about a grand more or so compared to the old sig or pro powerpoles. I have twin 8 ft sig on my puma and just orderd twin 10 ft blades for my baycat so Ill have to see if those grasshopper legs are worth the added money.. And the hull of a basscat really helps with holeshot since the brakets dont hang back anuff on mine atleast. Now ur nonboater I would just say respect my stuff

Ive had power poles for the last 3 years and I dont think that power poles affect the backseater much. However, anytime you have anything above the top of the boat could get in the way a time or two over a period of years. As far as “horror” stories creating drag on the take off………Im sure theres drag, but I havent noticed any difference. I turn a larger prop than most (27p Fury – 250 Pro XS – Puma FTD) and havent noticed any problems. The extra cost for the blade is due to its a better overall pole and is likely due to the extra weight. The signature series no longer comes in an 8 model and the Pro Series can only be had in white or black. Lastly, there is a bracket that bolts to the side of your jack plate.Whether or not you need them is your call. Only you can determine whether your pocketbook can handle the added luxury. Though, youll find after owning for a few years is there are many uses for them other than sightfishing!
