Ive had power poles for the last 3 years and I dont think that power poles affect the backseater much. However, anytime you have anything above the top of the boat could get in the way a time or two over a period of years. As far as “horror” stories creating drag on the take off………Im sure theres drag, but I havent noticed any difference. I turn a larger prop than most (27p Fury – 250 Pro XS – Puma FTD) and havent noticed any problems. The extra cost for the blade is due to its a better overall pole and is likely due to the extra weight. The signature series no longer comes in an 8 model and the Pro Series can only be had in white or black. Lastly, there is a bracket that bolts to the side of your jack plate.Whether or not you need them is your call. Only you can determine whether your pocketbook can handle the added luxury. Though, youll find after owning for a few years is there are many uses for them other than sightfishing!
