Does somebody make a jig with wire weed guards for jig -n- pig, asking for a friend. What do you guys think about them ? Is it O.K. to ask a question like this on here. I would also like to thank you all for great ideas on boatcare that I have read and trouble shooting advice I have also read on this forum, totally awesome.I have a new 08 p2 that is awesome also, I cannot believe the amount of compliments of `how beautiful your boat is` and the heads it turns, far cry from my old tracker v-17.Thank You all again!!!!
Greg, I cannot think of anybody that makes them with wire weed guards any more. I do about 8 or 10 different kinds of them but all have the standard weed guard in them that you see in most all jigs today. Good Luck in your search and give me a shout if there is anything I can help with.
Your fine asking a question like that here! We are not sure of why you would have a trailer guard as it would also block access to the hook. Thanks for the comments and your welcome to visit here anytime. With only two (2) posts your just getting started. BCB
You can easily make one with a wire or Y if you like. I also pour jigs for myself and a few others. I would rather see a heavy rated guard and then pluck out or precut out a number of fibers rather than go single wire. More importantly- why do you want wire?C.O.D. Jr. III
I dont use wire weed guards, but if youre looking for a good jig in some unique colors that catch fish… check out my buddys EZEE jigs site. Bass eat them up. If you dont believe me, just look at whose leading day two at Oneida. He used to make them for free for me until he made the big time. Id list the link here, but hes an “R” boat guy.
There is one listed in this months Bass Insider paper. It is under new products page.
I feel ya about the beatiful boat compliments. I often practice my best Elvis impersonation “THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH”. Enjoy, be humble and be sure to point out the features and benefits to any and all that show interest. Congrats on your “keeper”. Bruce
Thank You for all the responses. I ask this question for a friend of a friend. He has some I guess that he bought from some guy , not sure on how long ago, well the guy died I guess. This friend wanted to buy the business and I don`t know why he could`nt ,anyway this guy swears by them .I was just researchig a little. I can see a point to it ,2 pieces of wire verses 30 or 40 strands of fiber.Did`nt stanley spinnerbaits use a tapered wire for better vibration years ago ,maybe they still do.If we have this florocarbon technology ,why not make a weedgaurd out of it, then visibility of one would`nt be an issue.Maybe I`m just babbaling or thinking about it too much.I`ll probally ask some more questions about stuff.I like getting thoughts from other parts of the country and I figure you guys have a little more exposure to more hardcore bass tackle or newer things than I do up here in Wisconsin.Stores around here probally don`t have the amount of tackle you guys in the south might have more access to.Thank You again!!!
Punisher makes hair jigs that have two wire weedguards. It would not be very hard to build your own jigs with wire weedguards. All you would have to do is to find some small diameter wire (the Punisher jigs use two pieces of braided wire) and epoxy them into place just like you would with a standard fiber guard. Also, Do-it molds makes a clear Y-shaped weedguard that would be less visible than the standard fiber weedguard.
I think the jigX or someones guards are flouro. I have tried “clear” guards but they arent clear unless you take a lot of them out. It wouldnt be hard to pour a wire- just pick your wire and pour. the lead will only go so far out of the weedguard slot. Then file off the extra and epoxy the base as the wire may not melt like a fiber guard.C.O.D. Jr. III
