When I bought my boat two props came with it. a 3 blade raker with a 26 pitch and a 4 blade shooter with a 24 pitch. Someone told me the 26 was too big for my boat. the engine is a 150hp Johnson. I do notice that a lot of time when I go to give it the gas to take off, the engine boggs way down and sometimes cuts out. It was just retuned so should not do that. both props need to be reworked but if the raker is not the right prop I may want to sell it or trade it for another correct one.

What boat are you running them on? I run a 92 Sabre with a 150 Evinrude Intruder. The bogging and stalling is not from our prop. It is a unfortunate side effect of an otherwise great motor.I had a 93 Faststrike on my pre-Cat lesser R boat, , and in the summer heat (lesser at other times of the year) I would have the same thing happen. I have been told it is called “heat soak”. Long story short, I believe it is the gas boiling in the line and causing vapor lock. There are a few things you can try, and some may work on some motors and some on others, but for me it never completely went away.I ran a 24 Raker on a 175 and it seemed about right. I think the 26 pitch is too much.

awesome man, thanks for the reply. Totally makes sense since it did not happen when I first launched the boat, only after I had been fishing in the Houston heat for a couple of hours. I was hoping it was just one of those things and nothing major. ok, so the 4 blade 24 shoude be good, wonder if I can get anything for my 26 raker.Last edited by TMAC2 on July 13th, 2010, 7:55 pm, edited 1 time in total.

While I do not own a Bass Cat, (unfortunately), I do run a FastStrike on my 18 bass boat. In regards to your FastStrike, it needs to turn 5,000 to 5,200 rpms at wide open throttle. If it does not achieve this kind of rs, may I suggest you consider a 22 raker. Previously, I had a ProCraft 1780. The 24 raker would only turn 4900 or so. This engine needs to hit the 5,000 mark. You probably do need a slightly larger prop than I do since you are pushing a bigger boat, but Im not sure of that. You may need smaller to get your RPMs up. Im not very smart when it comes to props thats why I asked BCBs opinion of what I needed. Shooters come in odd pitch sizes and they are hard to come by, so you have either a 25 or a 27. The Raker should be a 24 for a 15 0 on your rig. BCB

I run a pII with a fast strike 150, I have a 24 raker 14 1/2″ 3 blade … runs great

The 24 raker will do ok but i personally would try to get my hands on a 24 fury to try or a 23 or 24 tempest
