There are plenty on this board who can help. And there is one or two at BCB who are pretty good there also, they helped me once there.
I am no expert at Dardanelle but I am a student of the river game-Rules at Dardanelle-#1- Flow means fish the river. No flow means dont.#2- Mud is your friend#3- When you look at an area on google earth or on the water remember this- “Yes you can get back there and yes someone probably has before you”#4- Flow at Dardanelle is dictated largely by Ozark lock and dam- Ozark is largely a reflection of power production there and Robert S. Kerr Resevoir in Oklahoma. Dardanelle L&D runs the rest of us below Dardanelle.#5- Call the lockmaster at Ozark before every day.#6- If you know Kevin Short or feel like you might have anything on him now would be the time to hang it over his head!!!! Thanks for the info. Well be camping up there this coming weekend. Hopefully well learn something.
7. Dont get any advice from P A!!!BAYOU BANDIT
You should have flow this weekend. Flow that is useful is usually 30-40 or above. You can run WAAAAAY up above Spadra and utilize flow around 20.There are jetties in the river about 25 miles up and beyond. C.O.D. Jr. III
If i thought i could help id be glad to,,,,but the last few trips to Dardanelle have proven to me i know nothing about that place.
Ward, when you say run up past Spadra, do you mean up the creek or up the river past it. Where can I get info on flow rates? Not too good at interpreting that info, not much power generation in our part of the world.. I assume if there is good flow, dont even bother fishing the creeks other than maybe just to look around. Typical river fishing stuff? Square bills and such on the jetties. Thanks for the info. Yall are a great help. Main thing is want to get a look at it navigation wise. I saw the pic of Shorts boat. Wont be running hard any out of the river markers. Shouldnt be anyone out this weekend, they all should be at the Arkansas- Bama game. We are going to fish then try to come in and see if LSU can play like a team that has a sackful of showstoppers on it instead of a pee wee team. Thanks, Bryan, 03 P4
Ward is saying run past Spadra in the river. The futher you go up, the more flow you will find. Not a lot of guys run that far. From the state park in Russellville to the Ozark lock is over 50 miles. It can be done and the fishing can be good. Like Ward said call the lock and check the flow (479-667-2120). If there is NO flow, I wouldnt make the run. There is some good fish up there that dont get a lot of pressure. You can lock down into Sweeden Isle which is the pool below.(Dardanelle/Sweeden Isle Lock 479-890-4987) Pretty much a river channel with jetties. Fishing can be out of this world if the time is right. Some of the best trips I have had on the river were in that pool. I am talking some MAG Kentucky Joes! Gets me all worked up just talking bout it! Last edited by Joey on September 21st, 2010, 3:31 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Thanks Joey. Any places that far up that we could launch as far as scouting, then worry about the run later. From reading, there is a launch at Spadra. Any above that? I assume with WAY up there it will be river/jetty fishing, jig, cranks, swim jig maybe. Thanks guys. Also it didnt look like 50 miles on my map, but ill run to find the donkeys…Bryan.
Thats a very merry Christmas gift from the pink boat. But you still have to catch em. Last edited by clownshoes on February 26th, 2013, 5:54 pm, edited 2 times in total.C.O.D. Jr. III
IF i knew exactly where this fella went in on where someone else was catchin 25lb.+ stringers i wouldnt have gone in on their fish, period.Bent rod pattern just aint good to be known by, and will get you no respect in our little world. $$$$ is not worth dignity. Now, if someone had told me to go there and get me 5 of their fish to help me out, that would be a tad better, and a favor to repay down the road. Just sayin.
That is impressive, they had the Oakley Big Bass from Dardanelle over the weekend and a 5lb 1 oz took the top prize of 10K? I would assume it was filmed last year??
Doesnt really matter. Too much change right nowC.O.D. Jr. III
Doesnt really matter. Too much change right now. Someone who has tremendous ability to fish conditions will winC.O.D. Jr. III
I have received a few posts on my facebook page from Shaw Grigsbey and Alton Jones that state they are excited about the tournament based on how practice went but that as ward stated, constant change will be the key all week and weekend. I think I also saw a post from Mark Davis that said about the same thing.
