LAKE FORK BOUND!!

HEY GUYS, IM MAKING MY FIRST TRIP TO LAKE FORK, TEXAS THE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH. ILL BE STAYING AT THE MINNOW BUCKET INN. CAN ANYONE HELP WITH WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO USE. I KNOW ITS A LITTLE EARLY TO BE ASKING NOW BUT I WANTED TO GET STARTED. WILL TAKE ANY HELP I CAN GET. THANKS

Typically this time of year it will be Diamond Shads and Red Eye Shads for me. You can also get on a decent spinnerbait, jig and wild shiner bites but they dont seem to be as predictable as the flat baits. I havent been out there lately but plan on going Monday and will have a fall trail championship next Saturday. Shoot me an email and I hope to give you a little bit more specific information. Secondary points close to spawning flats with grass on them are typically the deal right now. As you go further south on the lake you will probably be able to fish main lake points. Birch, Mustang (both of them), Williams, Glade seem to be good most of the time this early in the year. Good luck and feel free to email me after next weekend and I probably can help more. I would spend time in Glade, Long Branch, Rogers and Birch. Like Judd mentioned, secondary points are always good. I also like to fish ditches leading to the flats especially the ones with Hydrilla. My partner and I caught several fish in 2 of water yesterday on one point. As far as baits, I would throw what you have confidence in. I usally toss traps (crawfish colors), wacky rigged plastics (watermelon/red w/ tail dipped), dropshot (watermelon/red w/ tail dipped) these baits are for numbers. For larger fish I throw a 1/2 Jig or 10″ power worms. Good luck and enjoy your stay!

I HAVENT FISHED IN A FEW YEARS BUT I DID FISH IT THAT TIME OF YEAR I BELIVE THE COLOR WAS WATERMELON SEED IT LOOKS LIKE PUMKINSEED ZOOM JERK BAIT WITH SPLIT SHOT 1 UP LINE WORKED FAST ON MAIN LAKE POINTS. THE COLOR OF THIS LURE WILL COMPLETLY DISAPEAR AS SOON AS IT HIT THE WATER. CONDITIONS WERE TOUGH WE WERE OUT FISHING THE LOCALS

My biggest fish at Fork was caught on a watermelon-red zoom super fluke, we also caught them on wacky-rigged zoom trick worms in the same color, and carolina-rigged lizards same clor or just watermelon, some on a jig, chatterbait,buzzbait. I had no luck throwing the red trap but heard of guys loading the boat. We usually fish all around Birch Cr. and stayed at the minnow bucket. We trailered over to a close ramp, its a preety good boat ride to birch from the bucket. Oh and stop in at Brannans Bass Shop in Powderly TX if that is on your route, they have EVERYTHING. Good luck! As you can see in my picture my biggest bass at Fork is fairly large . Watermelon red lizard t-rig or c-rig in and around the creek channels . Where I hooked my fish you would have never dreamed there was a fish around for a 100 miles . She was caught across from the Minnow Bucket in Alligator Alley .Good Luck
