Hope this is not out of line but Im headed to Lake Toho for the winter and was wondering if there is anything special I should be carry. Colors, baits and so on? Never fished there and plan on making this my winter home for a while.

spend the $ and fish with a guide when you get thereflip creature baits to punch through hydrilla and mixed grasses – cold fronts will start to pattern each week and toho is so shallow, fish will get lock jaw and move far back under cover for warmth. .5-1.5oz tungsten – junebugfish will bed as early as Nov/December depending on water temps – drag some shiners free lined or on a float 3-5 feet along any hydrillacarolina rig anywhere you pick up shell beds – and adjacent areas that are pre-spawnlook for deeper staging areas adjacent to s. steer and n. steer – if you find isolated hydrilla in 6-9 – throwing sexy shad or dead sticking flukes can be very good.putem all back – Toho has potential to be better than ever in the next few years.2 cents.

I have been fishing and living on the chain for 15 years just email when you get here and I will be happy to show you around. As for baits, no worries we have a BPS right here so if you forget anything you can pick it up. Look up Producto lures… Tournament worm! Their plastics are no joke, great texture. Junebug is good, junebug with blue tail is better, Black grape is hard to beat. Fire tiger crankin is a good color. Remember that Kississimee will be two weeks behind Toho, so when you have a pattern and it fades run south to keep it going. When you find fish ask these questions: water debth, type of grass, and what was the bottom (sand, muck, shell). You will have a pattern to go on. The lock to run south takes 18-22 minutes. Have fun there.

If you are retired military you should bring your id so you can fish the Coast Guard team tournament out of Camp Mack. It will be in early March and Ill post more details here when it gets closer. Enjoy your time down south.
