Good Morning fellow Catters!A group of guys from our Bass Club is looking at going to Lay Lake the week of October 15th. Do you guys have any recommendations on lodging in that area? We have not been there and are looking for something different than our traditional south Louisiana haunts.Thanks,Dan

The Guesthouse Inn in Clanton, Al. is reasonably priced and very fisherman friendly with lots of parking and hook-ups for battery charging. Dining close by. The Alabama 4H Center rooms are very nice and large. It is also minutes away from Bees Wax launch, located mid-lake. No dining facilities close by. Numbers for each are available on line. Either choice is fine.

4h has the best lodging that i have found in that area, though electircal hookups can be tricky. But you would be there after all the summer camps are gone for the summer and can park right outside the front office where electric outlets are avaialable. Guesthouse is very convienent as well has a shoneys for breakfast and plenty of room for boat parking with eletrical hookups. I would recommend either place.

The 4H complex is probably the nicest and is right there at Paradise Point for launching. The crew at Paradise Point gets a bad rap from people in bass fishing sometimes, though we really got along just fine with them when we have been there. Drop in and visit with them, buy a soda or something and be sure you pay the launch fee. Be cautious leaving that area and be aware of the river channel. Dont miss dinner in those quaint restaurants in downtown Columbiana, especially if you take your spouses. Most just drive through to fish, though it is a very neat little downtown area. Dan if your gonna be on the lake on Sun morning, Ill be launching out of beeswax at dawn, lol. Ill be in a Blue and silver Champ( temporarily, lol). Ill be going up to the steamplant.
