It amazed me how well they hold. I had a lost a cover to an old LCX-20 and thought the HDS 7 cover would fit. It would not. I happened to be at the OI on Sam Rayburn and staying with Doug Swann. I asked him if he wanted it as a spare. He said he would take it but that he would never lose his covers and proceeded to tell me to go over to his boat and try to take his covers off. That is one thing Humminbird could learn from Lowrance. I keep a bungee cord around my Humminbirds to keep from losing the covers on the road. Removing the bracket was your real question. You were trying to remove a face plate and there is not one. The unit is sealed as you now know and the bracket holds them in. We install them every day and yes we understand.
