Guys i am looking at a 27 but was wondering what everyone thinks about the new hds-7 if it would be worth the xtra $$$$ to go with this unit this is something i will have for a long time so i want to get right also what does everyone think about the skimmer ducer (pros vs. cons) compared to the thruhull type Thanks in advance, Eric
I would probably want to take the HDS-7, as the new Lowrance has dual beams to capture a larger segment of the bottom. Also, the HDS-7 is the brand new equipment, and the older 27 equipment will only be supported for a certain period of time. Corky
I greatly prefer the in hull transducer for high speed reading and protection from the dangers lurking underwater with a sole purpose of ruining hang on transducers, props, and lower units. Corky
i havent used a HDS-7 but i did have a 27c and they are godd units… very user friendly and great detail. i am looking forwrd to using the 7 if see or purchase one.
The new HD equipment is not scheduled to release till late February or early March. They are as always advertised in the winter retailer catalogs way in advance of release. We saw non working units in December, though mock up only.
