I am wanting to install Bluewater LED lights in all my compartments in my P3. Need advice as to how to utilize my mercury compartment switches. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Last edited by Quik13 on March 10th, 2013, 12:32 am, edited 1 time in total.
I agree with smbass … just cut off the old bulbs and wire your LED strip lights to the wires. Nice thing about the LED lights is the fact that you get great lights (depending on the type of LED used ) they use next to nothing for power, they dont get hot , and they last a long long time. Not to mention that they are shock resistant and water resistant .You should be able to light up your storage areas to the max and still use a fraction of the power ( current ) that the bulbs used.I hope that helpsDwayne Ill be having my highschool students wire my PIV and the trailer with LED lighting next month.Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO
If you have an alarm on your boat, the leds may not draw enough power to activate it. You can run the leds in parallel with the existing lights, or cut out the old lights, but leave 1, or 2 there. That will give enough load to activate the alarm.
Just leave a bulb in one socket. Unless the bulbs fail it will function, or you can add resistors in line to simulate the load incandescent bulbs have.
