Either the right angle or straight light plugs will work, though I believe the right angle plugs route the wires a little more efficiently.What kind do you have now?

That is correct on the lights at truck stops, though they are not always sealed and submersible. Some brands are though many of the eye appealing China brands at truck stops are not.
