I know there is a lot of knowledge in here. I want to hear what people have to say about legend boats. Ride, speed, handle etc…..
I took Lisa Craig a Womens BASS pro out to pre fish in her 21 legend with a 250 pro xs on the ouachita river. She let me have control of the boat and record everything on her lowrance. All i can say is the boat fished great and rode smoothe but i had that boat wound out until it was really too many rpms and all her boat would do was 70 mph. That is plenty fast for some people but we made some 30 minute plus runs and the extra speed would have definately helped out, it porpoised just a little bit you had to be easy on the trim early, the boat also seemed to run realy deep in the water like the boat didnt have any lift so those are my thoughts i would say drive one and make your own decision it may just have been her set up.
Nice finish, poor trailers, top end speed fair at best, fair ride, wet..wet..wet…..wet…wet…..wet! Did I say wet! Very few dealers nationwide and most are purchased through manufacturer. Poor resale. Knock off of the John Storie Hawk/Cobra boat which was a knock off of an older Ranger hull. Ive seen some Legends sportin around on 20s and I have to say thats one of the worst looking things Ive seen!
A couple ppl have begun to run the new ones in my area. I wasnt impressed. One of my friends drew out in a recent BFL with a guy in one of the newer ones maybe a alpha honestly i cant remember cause i dont like them but he said it rode decent at best and was slow. He called the front deck a ranger wanna be and said it was alot like a ranger in that you need a rain suti to drive it on a sunny day. H rides in my cat from time to time and swore there is no comparrison and the Cat is by far a much better machine.
Hard to say much here on this topic and not seem like we are beating on the competition. This being a BCB board it is odd to ask this one here. Though we have plenty of non BCB individuals checking this board out regularly for information. The numbers of traffic here are astounding. We dont really know, or wont comment on anything about the boat construction. We will say it is a progression of a copy of the 480 series Ranger hull that became a Cobra from that R hull which wound up as a Viper Cobra in transition was copied by Hawk again in Mountain Home by the same individual who started Cobra Which was moved to Oklahoma and failed (Hawk) Hawk molds were marketed openly by the investment individuals in McAlister, OK for about $40k asking price, not sure sale price Molds were then sold to the principle owner who we understand resides in Streetman, Texas and another partner, and possibly a third First hulls were built by Pro Gator in Benton, LA, boats were assembled in Streetman, TX then moved the company, on information from the then supervisor from Flippin, to the MH area Boats have been built in the area since that move. We are not sure if the hull has had any modifications from the original Hawk mold which was used. We cant see those details at a distance. Though as for the product, we reserve our opinion. BCB
Well if i knew where you was located i could tell you someone to contact and would take you for a ride. Ive looked at the 09 model, but couldnt tell you about the ride. They look nice and fishable, but wouldnt own one. This guy i know is sponsored by them so wouldnt really just take the word, would have to see for myself. Like i said, looks good behind a truck but alot of stuff does
Thanks for all the info. Ive seen a few around and wondered about them. It sure feels nice to go to lake here in east Texas and see more and more CATS on the water. Also who is the closest dealer to Tyler, Tx? Thanks again
AllbrightThe closest is in Pittsburgh, then it would be Rockwall, it your talking CAT dealer. Wyatt
By the way, I know somebody that knows somebody here in Tyler that is running a Legend that would probaly take you for a ride when he has a break from fishing tourneys. If your looking for Cat ride Ill take you, but if I take you, you probaly wont want to try the Legend !
I am BassCat all the way but I have been in Rangers many times and I couldnt disagree more on Ranger and getting wet comment. One positive for Rangers are their very solid rides. Just want to give another subjective perspective per Ranger boat ride. misr12 derek4one wrote: A couple ppl have begun to run the new ones in my area. I wasnt impressed.
